A frothy homage to our woolly ‘dog’ Willa (RIP, ewe beauty!), this is a classic NZ-style pilsner crafted in a proper lager style. Late-hopped with Riwaka & Wai-iti, you’ll pick up black cumin, capsicum & peach aromas. Palate is dry & crisp over soft mouthfeel with tidy bitterness. It’s a clean, quaffable brew.
Nicknames stick. And ‘BEEF' stuck to Jason. A goalie on the school ice hockey team, someone threw the nickname his way, & the rest is history. Or in this case, it’s beer! Bready with a moreish roasty aroma over silky-smooth mouth feel & a thread of enticing smokiness. Easy drinking. Not too complicated. Like a good goalie should be.
When the rain & storms get to be too much, a succulent, lip-smacker is in order. As the Kate Bush song says, ‘Like the sun coming out!’ We loaded equal parts Freestyle Farms' Nelson Sauvin (Nelson Lakes-grown) + Nectaron (from Waimea West) into this, so it’s all luscious grapefruit & sticky green with lush tropical undertones. Pleasantly bitter & mouth-filling.
For Jason’s namesake brew, Idaho 7 & Motueka hops make a joyful noise! And like Head Brewer Jason, it’s a hybrid: NZ/American Pale Ale. Soft malt sweetness & masterfully balanced bitterness back up candied clementine through & through for an extended, orange-laden finish. Can you have just one?
Bright beers make-a the world go ‘round, & this tasty little number amped up with Freestyle Hops' Nelson Sauvin is a spinner. These aren’t just any hop pellets, either. Late harvest hops are harvested using the FSH ‘Bliss’ process, boosting their tropical magic (max free thiols, for our beer friends) without sacrificing terpene-driven brightness. This one has a lovely malty, smooth base with lush fruit & a dollop of moreish Nelson Sauvin punch. Now, that’s delightful.
